“At the heart of every trinket” | Hand-crafted accessories from the heart of Thailand

Hand-crafted accessories from the heart of Thailand

I’ve never really cared much for glitzy and glamorous jewels.
For me, the price doesn’t make it valuable.
It has to be pretty, wearable and (most importantly) there has to be a story to it.
Right up till I left the UK, I would go (for lack of a better word) ‘trawling’ for trinkets, that I knew other people wouldn’t have. My collection was vast and magnificent, eclectic and inspired.

It pained me to have to give it all away.

But you can imagine that when I found this:

I just had to have it.

This delicate piece is made from plated rose gold, and the beauty is its intricacies.
As soon as I saw it, I felt like it was made to be worn by me. Wouldn’t you agree?

But that’s not the only thing that caught my eye.
This home grown Thai brand, is the brainchild of Ms. Narueporn Sanpakijwattana (affectionately know as Mon).
She courageously left behind a career in marketing and decided to start her own company, Mignononie; employing and training women from the provinces (‘the heart of Thailand’).  Each piece is made from surprisingly vast sheets of wire, that are painstakingly hand-woven, into delicate unique pieces of jewelry.

You can find her at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, where she’s always happy to sit and chat.
